Reading Your Policy in 30 Minutes — Free Online Workshop
A free, practical 30-minute online workshop showing you exactly how to read an insurance policy, find the exclusions that matter, and know what you're actually covered for before you need to claim.
About this workshop
Most people only read their insurance policy when they have a problem — and by then it is often too late to fill gaps or negotiate terms. This free 30-minute workshop changes that. In half an hour you will know exactly how to pick up any insurance policy document and understand what it covers, what it doesn't, and what to watch out for.
The session is led by the InsuranceTheGuide editorial team, using a real-world policy document as a worked example. No software or registration is required beyond a Zoom link — which we will email to you on confirmation.
Before attending, you may find it useful to skim our guide to how insurance works and our overview of the most common insurance exclusions.

Frequently asked questions
- Yes — this session assumes no prior insurance knowledge. We start from the basics of what a policy document is and walk through each section step by step. If you want to read ahead, our guide to how insurance works is a useful primer.
- You don't have to, but it will be more useful if you do. We will use a sample policy as our main example and pause at each section so you can follow along with your own. Having a home, motor, or travel policy to hand will make the session more relevant to your personal situation.
